Windsor’s Small Business Lending Conference and Trade Show Participation in 2018

Although the role of technology continues to make connecting with community financial institutions across the country a more convenient activity each year, there is no blog content, social media post, webinar presentation or email exchange that resonates quite like a face-to-face interaction.

Windsor Advantage has already had the opportunity to participate in a variety of in-person events focused on community lending throughout the first half of 2018.  In March, we were in attendance at the Southeast Small Business Lenders Conference in Asheville, NC, in May, six of our team members attended the NAGGL Technical Conference in Chicago, IL and just this week, we had the opportunity to attend the Annual Trade Show Convention hosted by the South Carolina Bankers Association.  More than 300 individuals from over 100 organizations gathered in Sea Island, GA for two full days of networking and discussion surrounding the current community banking marketplace.  Key takeaways from the event included:

  • Rob Nichols, President of the American Bankers Association, spoke on the impact that the Economic Growth, Regulatory Relief and Consumer Protection Act has had on the community banking industry.
  • Presentation of the “Outstanding Young Banker Award” to a recipient whose father was also a member of the SCBA.
  • Informational breakout sessions focused on M&A trends in the southeast and BSA/AML regulatory compliance updates.

Still to Come in 2018…

Windsor is looking forward to participating in six more events for fiscal year 2018:

1. America East SBLC – National Harbor, MD, August 1-3

This year’s breakout sessions will be broken into three tracks: sessions benefiting new SBA lenders, sessions geared towards seasoned SBA lenders and sessions targeted to a more general audience, regardless of SBA lending experience.  Over 500 attendees are expected this year.

2. Great Lakes SBLC – Detroit, MI, August 15-16

Windsor will be speaking on a guest panel during one of the sessions, hosted by the SBA office in Michigan.  The topic, “How to work compliantly with a Lender Service Provider”.  Last year’s keynote speaker featured Linda McMahon and this year’s speaker is expected to be announced very soon!

3. FLAGGL Annual Conference – Orlando, FL, August 20-22

This event was formed in 2012 by a dedicated group of Florida SBA lenders to serve the local small business lending community.  In each of the previous three fiscal years, Florida small business borrowers have ranked third highest in the country in attained dollar volume through the SBA 7(a) Program.

4. SBA MN Lenders Conference – Brooklyn Park, MN, September 6

At this event in 2016, Windsor had the opportunity to partner with attorney Nick Jellum of Anastasi Jellum and present on SOP requirements when utilizing a Lender Service Provider.  We are excited to announce Windsor will be speaking on, “How to win the best SBA and USDA loan s in your market” during this year’s event.

5. Tennessee SBLC – Nashville, TN, September 12-14

The inaugural event is expected to host more than 250 attendees at the Sheraton Music City Hotel in the heart of downtown.  Associate SBA Administrator, William Manger, will be a keynote speaker.

6. NAGGL Annual Conference – San Diego, CA, November 13-15

Consistently the GGL event with the highest number of attendees each year, more than 800 people are expected to attend this year.  Registration for the conference will open on June 27.  Over the previous three-year fiscal period, over 16% of the total dollar volume authorized through the SBA 7(a) Program was provided to small business borrowers in the state of California.

Conferences provide a unique convergence of industry specific expertise and networking opportunities among like-minded individuals.  We hope to see continued growth in attendance at these events and increased activities across the country that help support the small business lending community.
